Mounting a kerb for emergency services..

I was sitting in a queue of stationary traffic about 5 cars back from some lights awaiting green in my pride and joy with a nice set of clean recently re-furbed rims on.. Suddenly i hear sirens, look in the rear view and see an Ambulance barging through the traffic approaching my rear slowly.

Now, this road was narrow with Id say a 4-5" high kerb and there was no way I was going to attempt to mount it with a 35 tyre height, and a huge risk of kerbing my new wheels. Boy, did I feel guilty..

The ambulance was behind me waiting to pass.. and I sat there, waiting for everyone else to mount the kerb in front so I could pass them! I must of held them up for around 45 seconds (felt longer) but eventually they passed and left me with one heck of a guilt trip.

Tricky one this but what would you do in that situation?

Shocking aint the word mate! Although in hind sight, and can only assume this, but they didnt seem to be in a major rush.. obviously with sirens on means 'emergency' but they seemed quite happy to wait. Still feel guilty as arseholes though

same mate you should have just gone up at an angle mate to save the wheel but at the end of the day you can refurb a wheel, would of felt even more guilty if the headline of the local paper said patient died due to waiting behind an astra to shift

That was my dilemma mate.. the road was narrow and to get up the kerb at a suitable angle I would of needed to reverse and approach it wider.
