    information and help?

    hi,
i have a 1998 astra 1.6 8v club, i keep noticing that there is white "Mayonaise" type stuff under the filler cap each time i check it, which normally is the signs of a headgasket failing. im slightly confused though as i dont seem to be loosing any coolant and there is no residue on the dipstick. Also my temp dont seem to be going over 80 while im driving and got the blowers on but bumps up to around 90 when im stationary and no heaters is this normal? as its never been like that on any other cars i have owned. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Common on the 8v's to get a bit of mayo even if the head gasket it ok.

Take it for a good long drive, then check it when you stop, it may have died down or dissappeared. Its just a bit of internal condinsation.

Also the temp dropping down, may be the sign of a thermostat starting to go, but ive also heard that because the 8v uses the same coolant radiator as the 16v, sometimes they just over cool a bit as the radiator is a bit too effective.
Astra Sold! Now its back! Sold Again! Who knows whats going on!

Currently Running MK1 1.8 MX5 with LSD awaiting boost, and a Red UK DC2
