    difference between z16xe and z16xep

    hello menfolk!
the engine died on my 03 plate 1.6 sxi (z16xe) so i ordered a new one from a breakers, however they have sent a z16xep, the garage say it isnt compatible but the breakers claim it will fit if they change the ancilleries and manifold??? who is lying to me?!!!
Not happy and cant afford to fork out another £500 plus fitting on another engine before xmas.

    Welcome to AOC

Z16XEP is a twinport, Pretty sure this will definitely not work even if you change the manifold, as the head is different aswell.

Send it back if I were you, look for an engine on here, they crop up quite regularly

Seller wont take back as they are 100% adament it can be made to fit by changing manifold and ancilleries To the point that they are hassling me by email and my garage with phonecalls calling us all incompetant.

what sort of things would need changing to make it fit? and what sort of additional cost would i be looking at? If it would cost me less to get this engine in the car then it would to give up and buy the correct one then i may aswell give it a go.

personally i would argue your case and send it back at their expense. you asked for an z16xe not an xep, you are within your rights to return this, whatever bollocks they want to spout at you.
you don't need the extra hassle and cost of adapting the xep unit.
