    z18xe management light on

about 18mnths ago i changed the manycat on my astra for a bossal one about 3 months later the management light came on while driving on the by-pass and fault code po420 was stored cat above threshold was advised to change both oxygen sensors which i did, no change light came on when cruising on the by-pass then changed mass airflow meter, cam and crank sensors, still no change only came on when on the by-pass took it to my local vauxhall garage they checked it out and said they thought i had been given a faulty cat so got it changed for anoyher bossal one back in june since then no problem until last weekend while on the by pass and the light came on again same code po420 in august i also developed a missfire so changed the coil pack and new plugs which seemed to get rid of 95% of the missfire, it only happens very occasional now when under load can anyone please help its driving me mad and cost me a small fortune thanks

so what code u getting at present?

you could try the earth mod on the yellow wire of the AFM plug - about the only thing left u havent already done (essentially just splice new wire into the yellow wire and then run to a known/new earth point on car)

having said that - this is usually only on AFM faults where TC/EML comes up

Whats the warranty like on your current cat?

Personally i think its the cat being a budget brand thats causing this.....not the first time ive seen cheap cats creating fault codes like this

probs have been a lot cheaper to fit an aftermarket 4-1 manifold and fit an underslung cat on the front pipe instead....

    whereabouts are u located?

maybe a local member with opcom software could help diagnose it if need be

feet on brake and accelerator, key in turn to 2nd position. the light will then flash up the code, eg 1234 - 1 flash = 1, 2 flashes = 2, 3 flashes = 3 etc etc. but 0 is 10 flashes

as Gb say's these aftermarket cheap cats are not good.

you have a missfire, bank 1 lambda sensor fault and cat below threshold code. were the parts you have already replaced genuine parts or aftermarket?

if it were me, i would get hold of a new genuine coil pack. if the car has a missfire it will dump unburnt fuel into the exhaust system and the bank 2 sensor will pick this up as a fault and it will show cat below threshold and the unburnt fuel will ultimately destroy the cat. which is what i think is happening with yours
