what tyres? toyo R888, proxes R1R or other?

    as title really,
looking for a new set of tyres, jut the fronts at the moment.
im looking for great traction and overall grip to handle 300bhp.
not too worried about tyre life and may be used on track days in the summer.
so ive narrowed it down to either
toyo R888 - has great reveiws on grip dry and wet(just not standing water)
Toyo proxes R1R - again great grip not as good as R888 but better wet grip.

im leaning towards the R888 only thing is a few horror stories about aquaplanning.(could just be interweb ramblings)
plus wud go great on an 888 coupe(tyres match the car!)

both are around the 150-160 per corner.
so what do you guys think? anyone running anthing different that may be better than these two?

Are you looking at using them on the road this time of year ? if so dont go for either of them as they need to be used at above 10c for the compounds to grip. Otherwise speaking as a tyre fitter the R888 are cheaper and do the same job as the R1R providing you dont use them when its damp you wont notice much difference

Winter tyres lol Michelin are the best but you can get good mid range like hankook or avon winter tyres but getting them at this time of year will be hard

R888 are bad in the wet! (fantastic in the dry!)

Goodyear Eagle F1 are a good type for all round use inc trackdays ...

Falken 452's are a good budget all rounder (there where my spare wet alloys back in my Nissan track days).

Avoid budget tyres for trackdays, they usually overheat and the compound goes soft (loss of side wall strength....)
