    Problem with rear door

My passenger side rear door (5 door mk4 hatch) has issues.
All other door have different stages of opening. You know how it holds open slightly, then holds wide open. The back passenger side doesnt hold itself at all. If i open it fully, then gently let go, it will shut completely. This is annoying if my hands are full and im unloading/loading the car because the door just shuts itself.
Annoying for passengers to because they open the door, start to get out and the door shuts on their leg.
    Any ideas for a fix?

My car did this, then it stopped and now the door makes a nasty scrapping noise (Still need to grease it up)

Not sure what i did to fix it, just.. used it i guess.

I guess you could try replacing the catch thing that holds it in different positions (half open, open) but nothing to suggest really.. maybe wiggle it a bit? Lol.

You need to either replace or repair the check strap on the door. Will be a better bet replacing it.

Its a 10 minute job to do. Door card off, Speaker oyt, Undo the 3 torx screws then pull it out through the door. Refitting is the reversal of removing it.

Should only cost you £5 from a breakers, So it won't break the bank either!

I have never tried to be honest.

Its quite easy to remove the doorcards. Think there is a guide on it somewhere.

doubt a repair would make sense on them, probably more hassle in the long run and will be a temp fix. Id just replace it completely.
