    Drilling holes in airbox...

I saw in a thread that someone said to drill holes in the airbox, the side nearest the wing?

Anyone ever done it? Apprently helps cure the help of the engines heat soak on a 1.6sxi mk4

errm, it wont cure heatsoak, it'll cause heat soak. at the end of the day it's sucking in hot air from the engine bay. it'll probably make hardly any difference.
if you dont mind putting up with heat soak when in standing traffic but want a nice noise, buy an open cone. otherwise stick with the airbox

drilling wing side is unlikely to be affected by heat soak

the only difference youll notice is an increase in induction sound

you may gain a little extra air intake but nothing noticeable

I have my CDTi airbox drilled on mine but thats just for the sound aspect... heatsoak isnt an issue as i said cos the hole are on the other side so not a problem

my other setup *cone* however suffers immense heatsoak.... last time it was running circa 20bhp down on normal hahahah good times!
