take the whole light as you said you can do, then the wires go into a little base its either a twist or a pull mechanism and the bulb comes out iirc.

When I changed mine, all I did was pop the light fitting out, then the bulb just pulled out as its a 501 W5W side light bulb which is used.

Whilst your there, change the bulb for a led canbus bulb, looks much better than standard.

eBay is your best bet. I have ones similar to this in mine:

And this is how they look when they are on:

No, have only got one on the rear. Front bumper is a bit too curved to put one on without it sticking out at the edges. Only reason I have a plate holder on the rear is that the holes the screws go into are fudged, so plate holder is held on with a couple of nuts and bolts in 2 new holes I drilled out in the bumper. I have got a 2nd one that I will use on the front next year for going to shows, makes it easier to just pop plate out and show plate in for the day rather than taking a screw driver to change them.

Message these people on eBay. The ad picture doesn't show the correct one, but if you scroll down the the description, on the right there is a picture of all the types they do and my one is on there. See if they still do them:
