Bear in mind that this reduces the oil temps which reduces it's effectiveness vs the temps the engine was designed to run at...just a thought.

And when the outside temperature is hovvering around 0 degrees... I'd question the need for a cool running stat. In these conditions, the car will probably struggle to reach normal opperating temperature and thus, the ECU will think it's on cold start and bung more fuel in and it will do sod all for power or economy.

    In my opinion...

doesnt run at a lower temp just opens earlier so teh car still reachs its normal operating temps but just takes slightly longer to get there

What's the point of it then? Surely a cool running stat opens at a lower temp to stop the engine getting as hot as it does with a 'normal' stat?

it opens earlier to let water into the rad but the fan switch still doesnt come in untill the same temp it always has so the car will still get as hot.

TBH i didnt look into it properly when i boght mine as tbh they dont do anything really!
