Cool The Progress Diary of my Black SRi-T

    Where to begin...

I got my 4th car about 3 weeks ago now... a Black SRi Turbo, 2002, 83k, and a fair few engine mods making it a nice 287bhp, with a graph to prove.

    Spec:

    VXR turbo
    VXR LEH mass airflow meter
    VXR injectors with fuel Rail
    VXR (Z20LEH) Coolant Kit
    Courtenay Sport FMIC & Pipework
Courtenay Sport Oil Breather Hose (Blue)
    Regal power/boost pipe (Blue)
    Collins Dump valve
    Courtenay Sport lightened flywheel
    1.9 CDTI front intake pipe
    Cat-Back Miltek Exhaust System
    Precat Decat Pipe
    Courtenay Panel Filter
    Boost Gauge (Colour Changing)
    Eibach Lowering Springs 50/30
EBC Red Stuff pads and Drilled/grooved discs
    Courtenay Sport Stage 4 Remap

The car I was currently driving was a Vectra 1.9cdti 150 sri xp, cracking little car but couldnt afford to keep it (i thought at the time) and people thought it was a little too mature for me. (3rd car)

My 2nd car was a Corsa 1.4 tuned to a healthy 120bhp with dbilas goodies that I got from member 'corsazlet' on here in 2008, i then ended up swapping this car for the sri-t.

And my first car was a ultra blue 1.2 corsa that i did loads to, facelift convrsion, smoothed etc... literally when i got rid of it i had changed every part on it a few times... i swapped this car for car 2 in 2008 with corsazlet and he ended up putting a z20let into it, i dont know who owns it now though.

anyway... a lot has already changed to the sri-t in the past couple of weeks and i will update as i go on...

First things I did as soon as i got the car was repair the gear knob gaitor as it was all hanging out, swap the opc grille for a plain irmscher one, elthough would like the alu strip version, swapped the standard headlamps for the gsi smoked version, and replaced the standard headunit as the amplifier in it was broken.

when i finally started driving the car i was in for a shock...

    clutch was slipping a bit
    wheels just kept spinning up
    wheel bearing gone, droning noise
    rattles all over the place

    popped the bonnet...

oil was low, so topped up
    coolant leaking from expansion tank

i was hating the car at this pint thinking great what have i bought

i ordered some new wheels which cheered me up, some vxr reps, 18" diamond cut... yummy... they turned out to be VILE and look chavvy on the car.

I then decided to get window tints... on the way to the tint shop i got a warning message, check oil level...

    great.

checked it, topped it up, and lost it all again pretty quick

I WAS MAJORLY GUTTED AT THIS POINT

i called up ian at mpg straight away and had the car booked in for the next day, a 150mile round trip... yay.

So i took it steadily up to MPG the next day and arrived at 9am hoping to get the oil leak fixed there and then.

After what seemed no time at all ian had diagnosed the fault but it couldnt be fixed until the day after due to lack of parts so car would had t be kept, which meant getting the train home and back up next day, this was hell but i managed.

the problem turned out to be that it had had a replacement oil pump earlier in the year and had all been bodged back together, no new gaskets or seals, just glue, it had been done by toatal cowboys and apparently the cambelt was hanging off too CRINGE

while it was there i thought i may aswell get as much as i can fixed to save on time so here is the list...

    • Full Service - inc. All Filters, GM 10W40 + VXR SPARK PLUGS + K&N CLEAN
    • Replace all sump gaskets/seals
    • Replace NSF Front Wheel Bearing (ESP Version)
    • Replace Coolant Expansion Tank
    • Investigate and Ammend Rear Brake Squeek
    • Grease Rear Suspension
    • Replace Cambelt
    • Supply and Fit TX Autosport Water Hoses (Blue) (Custom Kit for VXR Coolant System)
    • Supply and Fit Oil Restrictor Bolt
    • Supply and Fit EDS Tophat w/ Crossover Bracket
    • Investigate NSF Window Rattling + Repair
    • Supply and Fit Cool Running Thermastat

in total this cost 4 digits, but was worth it as I was glad it was being done by a vauxhall specialist, and am very pleased with the outcome

i cant reccoment MPG enough it was allready for me the next day as soon as parts had arrived.

so now the car is running pretty sweet apart from the window rattling a bit from the regulator being broke...

oh and also had the front windscreen replaced (twice, long story) as the old one was badly chipped

    next on the agenda was:

    Smoked Side Repeaters
    GM Flatblade Wipers
    HEKO wind deflectors

all from LMF Vauxhall, TOP service, Next day delivery, awesome!!!

also got my new wheels put on, 18" vxr reps... my god i was shocked they looked so chavvy an they werent even balanced! NEVER buy from alloywheels.com

i only took one rubbish pic of them as they looked too vile to look at

    CRINGE!!!

Seen as i decided the wheels had got to go i thought that my old wheels from my Vectra would look good on there, they were pretty rare XP2 alloys refurbished in Ford Charcoal Grey Metalic, lush. so i got the tyres swapped over from the vectra and had them put on the astra.

turns out that i got these alloys from a member off here aswell a few months back

    Its been a while...

Finally got my private numberplate on the car... M9 TBH

I think my stem seals are on the way out so that needs sorting... great

I have also decided to definately go for RACEAND coilovers after having ago in another members car, get the car decatted, new floor mats and a pillar pod for the boost guage.

Big thanks to keith sri-t who fitted my traction control switch yesterday... it was a long and annoying process as the car decided to play up and be a naughty. But after fitting it, the car feels alot better to drive without the traction cutting in and the exhaust pops alot more... loving it.

also whilst the car was on op-com, i found out its not running the original ecu, as the years of manufactur do not match, but oh well...

well. had the stem seals replaced on wednesday to try and fix the problem. this cost £300.

    pointless as it solved nothing.

i am so gutted i have effectively been robbed of that money

the car is still drinking a litre of oil or more in a week... so i need a new turbo or piston rings gone... basically an engine rebuild...

    lots of money...

all other mods are on hold... devistated.
