    Lost Power Steering

I have lost the power steering on my Mk5 Astra Sri Turbo. My girlfriend took the car to work and then to her mams, parked it up outside the house for me to put on the drive. I came out side, opened the doors and started her up but no power steering. I have no lights on the dash, fan belt is still ok. I have power steering fluid in the bottle. What can the fault be? Cheers

Check the fuse for the information display, mine did this 2 days ago (albeit a MK4 astra) and it made my power steering go. the RAC man said if it goes it can disturb the alternator and make it go a bit whappy!

Info display for the time and radio / computer? Thats working fine. Just tested the battery power for the alt and I am getting 14.70 with the car running. My steering is very stiff for some strange reason. Cheers

14.7 is a high voltage for the alternator to be charging at, maybe it's cut out to save burning out the motor?

Which again makes it sound like the battery is being over charged as they are usually around 12.3

Fired the car up this morning and the power steering is working again. Got me a bit worried incase it goes on me or my girlfriend when out driving in it.
