225/40 is the standard size on a MK5, I wouldn't go any bigger than that TBH

Depends what 18's your putting on.

To keep the same rolling radius you will need to fit 215/35/18 tyres
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...

As above lol, no idea why I thought you had a MK5.

what do u want to know about them?

youve been told the "correct" size for the mk4

go bigger as u intend and if you're still on standard suspension, expect everything to look rather stupid

even 215.35.18 will look daft on standard suspension, go bigger and you're asking for trouble....

seeing as u mentioned "full load" in your initial post i would stay clear of 18s personally! especially if u dont intend on lowering

my advice would be 17s with 215/40/17, good performance and stance, good driveability, lower it about 30mm all round and u can still get a "full load" as u say....

alternatively, go for 225/35/18 if u wish.... but i wouldnt recommend it if ur not planning on changing anything else

yeah was hope'n to get 17's but its rare that a decent set come up wiv 4 stud pattern.

i was only askin as theres sum cheap 18's in for sale section and just wanted peoples opinion about havin them on!

''ful load'' i mean that i play football sunday mornings so would maybe have 2 or 3 people in back, my kids aint heavy enough to put the backend down yet!!! lol....
