    Which one?

    Evening all - newbie here....

OK, so this won't be a new question, but as I'm in the market for an Astra, I've been looking at the Coupe which seems to suit my laid back style...

I've seen one locally which appears to fit the bill with service history, low mileage (50k on an 03 plate) and is in lovely condition.
Test drive all went well, but just wondering at that mileage what sort of thing can I expect in the next 10-20k - are there any nightmares waiting round the corner or am I just fussing about nothing??

    Comments....

    no nightmares fella

just make sure its had its cambelt and water pump changed and the service history is good

do some checks aswell to make sure there is no recorded problems you havnt been told about

and aslong as its been well looked after it should be fine mate

    whats the engine? is it a 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.0T or the 2.2?

all have cambelts exept the 2.2 which has a chain, but this will also need changing soon around 60k maybe more not to sure on that one

    Its the 2.2
Geezer tells me its OK for a few thousand more yet being a chain.

Funny, I always tell myself to look for a car with low mileage and then think about what the mileage is where major things (like water pumps etc) start to go wrong or need replacing. But that's motoring for you!

lol, thanks, i was surprised it hadnt been taken when i joined up so i was lucky

with regards to your potential car

always budget for regular maintainence like the timing chain and water pump

try to knock a bit of cash off aswell, or get a tank of fuel or somthing

have you got the car yet?

Its a private sale, so not much chance of the full tank, but he his agreeable to knocking off a couple of hundred - mainly cos it needs 12 months tax
