    Rapidly loosing coolant white smoke

    The car is a Astra MK4 1.6 SXI 1999

Ive only had this car a couple of months so yesterday i decided to clean the throttle body and de-restrict the airbox later on i suddenly noticed the temp gauge was in the red (this hasn't ever gone ever over 90), so i checked my coolant level completly empty i filled it up with around 2 litres and went for another drive 30 mins or so... parked up and this morning its completely empty again

Today ive filled it up again, parked it up, i cant see any leaks on the ground

So ive left it idling and its blowing white smoke after 10-15 mins and from what i gather its loosing the coolant when the engine is getting hot

Also upon opening the oil filler cap there is smoke trailing from there to

Sounds like a classic head gasket failure to me too.

It is normal to get a few fumes coming out of the oil filler cap just after running the engine, but check to see if the oil level has gone up (water getting into oil if it has), if not it's probably just gone between a cylinder and a waterway (usually because of corrosion from not using enough anti-freeze).
