I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILLITY IF THIS GOES WRONG
-drill and an array of drill bits
parts for the job
-daewoo nexia boot latch
- solder or crimping connectors bullet or spade connectors
-5 pin relay
-plenty of wire
- i used an inline fuse but if you'd rather not its up too you
right you want too get a wire from where ever you want your switch to be into your bootligh thats the most important i have mine on my centre console so i ran it down the left hand side of the car...
-removed the glove box and fed the wire through and down the kick panel
-put it under the weather seal all the way too the b pillar and fed it up over
-pulled the c pillar away and fed the wire through there
-taped the end of the wire too a screwdriver and pushed it through the sealed tubing too the boot
-leave enouigh on too allow for inaccuracy
RELAY (reference from auto sparks in this thread theres a picture
Lets say your switch is positive swtching you'll take the ciggy lighter live to the switch and to pin 30 on the relay. The other side of the switch will then go to pin 85. Earth will go to pin 86. A postive output will then go out of pin 87 when the switch is pressed
right youre done in the cab now your working in the boot..
-you need too remove the black trim which hides the lock mechanism...
-next.. unscrew your current latch and bolt in your nexia one.
- snip your wires which run to your solenoid with a few inches too spare on the solenoid as youll be re-using this !
-your next job is too relocate your solenoid so unbolt it from the body and move it right down from where it is too almost the bottom of the tailgate mark your location of where the hole goes for the bolt and drill it out i think i used an 8 or 9mm bit ..
-re-screw your solenoid in place
-bare the two wires on the solenoid back a bit and use the wire you ran in from your button too one side of the wiring and the other side too earth i used a 2mm drill bit into the body and a self tapping screw to earth this
-now you need to connect the bar or wire/rope your using too pull the solenoid too the latch pull..
-make sure your solenoid is fully extended out and is fitted fairly tight with the bar i.e the solenoid is far enough away from the latch so when its popped it tugs back to release and stretches back into the locked position
now your at the test stage.. you need too push the latch into the locked position without shutting the boot lower it enough so you can see your solenoid but so it is NOT shut now press the popper button if it releases sucess! if not you need to earth the other wire and wire the other too your popper this should now work.. now go have fun putting your car back together and playing with your new boot popper !!!
ill take more pics soon and add them in
