    astra sxi burning oil?

    hi i have a astra mk4 1.6 16v when i start it, it smokes really bad and smells like its burning oil any one know whats causing this?

    i got the same problem m8 i been told its the vavles and oil seals

    yea its staright forward if you know how to do it u need to take the head off head gasket has to b done and timing belt and i would put a a water pump on as well so if your lyk me pay some one eles to do it lol

    Valves? Could be valve stem oil seals however smoke is usually blue rather than white when these to fail as they cause unburnt oil to exit the exhaust. White smoke can indicate piston rings at fault or coolant being burnt. Piston rings is a huge job r.e. labour, coolant may indicate head gasket failure.
