490 000 over four years was the figure announced yesterday, not sure why this would have doubled overnight.

    Hi Gambit
I have seen your figures at nearly half a million and even that figure is too many..
But thanks for pointing it out..

Unfortunately Labour got the unemployment figures down by employing everybody and all that public sector pay has to be funded by taxes or borrowing.. which is why the country is struggling to pay of the interest on the debt it owes.

If you look at the list of quangos they are getting rid off it does make perfect sense to cull or reorganise a good many of them - http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum.../dg_191543.pdf.

Ohh... and I'd like to add that my job hangs in the balance because of the CRS too

I hope so too ... there is so much going on in the public sector at the mo, everyone is waiting for someone else to make a decision.

It all depends on how much we get cut by .. either it can be that we are such a small dept with a small budget, that any cut won't add to the big pot.. or we are such a small dept that no-one will notice if it disappears. The final result lies somewhere between those 2 extremes, but I won't know till next year.

The odd thing is that we usually have the order from come round for next year's diary by now....

We still have the Marine and Coastal Access Act (2009) to implement., so there might be a side step there.

    Who knows?
