1.3 cdti 6 speed gear box is very very handy. can cruise at 90mph and its less than 3000 rpm. Bang on 3000 rpm at 100mph. 90HP for the 6 speed astra. They use the 1.3 cdti in the corsa with a 5 speed gear box at 70 HP. Tuned the maximum HP figure is 115 for this engine. Max speed is 107mph. Torque figure is 200n/m. When tuned goes to a whopping 270n/m. 0-60 12.6seconds which isn't bad for a small engine.

Downsides are there is massive turbo lag and the engine without the turbo is very underpowered. You do however get a nice kick when the turbo comes in. Mines 83,000 miles and 5 years old and still runs nicely, some small problems but they have never caused the car to not work.

I think most would swear by a 1.7DTi, unfortunately cannot give an opinion on the 1.3CDTi other than i went for my DTi astra other the alternative CDTi corsa due to better mpg and cheaper insurance.
