    Post Window tinting

Just wondered what your opinions were on these self window tinting kits that you can get online??
Noticed a couple and the thing that's tempting me is the price to be honest.
Has anyone done it themselves? is it easy or just a pain and best avoiding?

    Cheers,
    Adam

haha I thought the same to be honest! Just my luck to mess it up!
My mate took his old saxo to a place near me and they charged him £75 but that was a couple of years ago so probably gone up now. The kit I have seen is £30:

I did mine myself got my tint of ebay for 7 quid the finished result isnt perfect but unless you really study it you cant notice. I would give it a try for the sake of 7 quid i used washing up liquid like they recomended on the first window and it left white spots so i would say just use water it worked better for me.

I used a cheap ebay film for the back windows.

It was easy enough to work with and gave a decent result which would pass inspection from most people.

It is no where near as good as a professional job though

I too am stretched between either going for the self tint or having it done professionally , I am leaning towards the professional side though.

Had mine done pro on the cheap last year, and tbh most of the windows have seen better days, thinking of re-doing a couple of them myself if i get the chance/time/money

but ive had a lot of practice with vinyl and previous tints on older cars, otherwise i wouldn't try it, even the pre cut ones aren't as simple as they seem in the ads

I thought as much but the price is very appealing! Been to get a price today for it to be done professional... because the Astra has 5 windows at the back (yes they do count the 2 small ones as separate windows!!) they want £200 to do it! it does carry a lifetime guarantee though.. he said a lot of the cost is in the labour as they are the type of people that take the glass out to do it.
hmmm still undecided.. might try and convince someone to get me an early crimbo pressie lol
