    YAY I'm fixed!!

As a follow on from this thread:

    http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...d.php?t=278020

We ordered an EGR valve (just under £280) from LMF after being quoted the £900ish for Vauxhall to do it, I didn't order the intake manifold initially as we needed to see how badly blocked it was before shelling out another £150 on one of those...

G very kindly gave up a few hours of his day off to dismantle and replace the valve...when he took the valve off, this is what sight greeted him

Awesome....when he took the intake manifold off, it was completely, and I mean there was no gap in the carbon at all, so he set about giving that a jolly good scrape out.

I started the car up, gave it a small brooom to see if the revs did go over the 2.5 that it's been limited to for the last few weeks, and low and behold, we have a fully working car again.

Oh, and my tip for the day is DO NOT rev the balls out of the car in an enclosed (ish) area, even if it is a triple garage with the double door open at the front.

My poor dad's vintage motorbikes are now covered in a layer of black soot, as well as everything, and I mean everything that is in their garage.

But anyway, my car is now running better than ever, the EML has gone off all by itself

Apparently there was a gap of about 1cm in the intake manifold after all...so my car is soooo happy she can breathe now lol
