    A few questions...

Hi, not been here long, so a big HELLO (!) to you all .

    I'm considering buying a Astra, 2001 / 02 ish, 3 door 1.6 hatchback.

    My questions are:

    1. Will my mountain bike fit in the back, or will I need a bike rack on the back??

    2. Which model is the top of the range for the 1.6 that I'm considering???
Is it the SXi ?? I see there is a 1.6 CD but that's 5 door.....

    3. MPG ?

I'm currently driving 240 miles a week, so I'm trying to cut my fuel costs from my 2.2 Vectra B.....

    Cheers for the info

sxi, bike should fit in with the rear seats dropped without much trouble. 40mpg

Id be tempted to go for the 1.8 SRI tho just for the Cruise Control, 4mpg less tho

    Hi, thanks for your replys.

I keep finding different answers for the MPG question, 35 - 40 is quiet a vairyation.....

1.8 isn't really in the equasion, 1.6 for MPG, if I wanted faster I'd keep my 2.2, looking for better fuel economy mostly.....

You can get 3 door 2.0DTi in SXi and SRi trim levels. They fetch good prices though.

    Standard - but Nice.

This site lists all the models for the Astra and if you click more facts next to them, it will tell you all the info including the specs and the mpg etc

Get a diesel 1.7 waaaayyyy better economy than any of the petrols! Also much cheaper tax...
N.b. any opinitons expressed above should be ignored and considered 'ramblings', under no circumstances should they be relied upon...

thanks for the links to parkers, it is very good, and I've spent ages on there, but it's not 100% acurate, good for a rough idea for most things though.

You're right graeme, a diesel would be a much better choice, nearly halfing my yearly commuteing costs, if I keep the car 4 years it saves nearly £3500 !!

Starting a new thread requesting the accurate MPG of a 2001 1.7 DTI 3 door.....

    Cheers for the help.
