    coolant flowing constantly

    hi there

ive only owned my astra sxi for about a month or so, so am very new to vauxhall. when my engine is running there is a constant flow of coolant going back into the top of the expansion tank, is that normal? sorry for the basic type question but ive never had a car that coolant flows back in constantly?

    thank you very much

What age is the car? There should be a flow all the time, there's a pipe warming the throttle body and this flows all the time, at least on my MK4 that's the case so far as I know.

Should only start flowing after a few mins from cold, as at immediate cold the thermostat should block the flow to help it warm up quicker. Come out when it is completely cold, start it up and see if it flows then. If so is it over cooling? Does the temperature drop below 90 on the motorway etc?

The coolant flows from cold and temp doesn't really get as high as 90 at any time ???
