    Water Pipe on Z20LET

    Hi,

The water return pipe (I think thats what it is) has rusted through and is now leaking.

its the pipe running round the front of the engine, really shiney on this photo (not my car, but you can see it on this photo)

2 questions.. How is the metal pipe held on, and could I replace it with silcon pipe all the way? or something else? I need to get my car running for tomorrow and vauxhall wont be open for parts

It is held on but a few bolts. And yes you can just use silcon to replace it

Im sure ive seen a few people change this to a silicone hose, just keep it away from thee exhaust. Think its held on with a couple of torx bolts.

alternatively just use regular 8mm heater hose - i got 3 metres for less than a tenner on ebay and thats multi ply reinforced Goodyear stuff.

8mm is a common size so even local motor factors may have it - failing that just get a long piece of regular pipe - done!
