I'm gettign something similar.. there is a member called peteg2004 who can amke the console for you. as for turning on the ignition. I went down to halfords to ask if I could buy one of there kits they use for when they do insytallation.

They refered to it as a molex plug., but what you could do is... get a fag lighter with its casing from halfords or scrap yard, you will then have a positive and a negative terminal on this solder on a black for the -tive and a red for the +tive cables and then in turn solder ths to the original matching termiansals on your fag lighter in the cat. fit the satnave and then using its car charger connect it to the faglighter you installed. It should then come on and off with the ignition
Be an optimist - at least until they start moving animals in pairs to Cape Canaveral.

I dont think the tomtom one xl has automatic power on and off when its connected to power. You may have to pop the back off and extend the wiring to run an external switch somewhere
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

I have just bought a sat nav console (genuine GM part) from e bay cost £24.00 plus postage from vxrmania, he is a top man and good to deal with.

I am fitting a 4.3 garmin to mine, I used double sided body moulding tape and cable ties to hold mine in place you may need to make some packing pieces as well but all this took me 15 mins.

I cant answer about your wiring as the garmin comes on as soon as I switch the ignition on, but I will be using a second socket which will be spliced to the back of the original cigarette lighter.

pretty much all the garmins do. as far as Im aware only the new tomtom starts have auto power on but wont automatically power off.
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

The vauxhall center console is 5"

I fitted a 5.2" in mine, garmin 5000. This is an actual mount in satnav with av input, designed for builds, so it has no internal battery, but takes reversing cams and freeview boxes etc.

    Heres my build:

Astra Sold! Now its back! Sold Again! Who knows whats going on!

Currently Running MK1 1.8 MX5 with LSD awaiting boost, and a Red UK DC2
