I could actually set fire to my car now...

Following on from other threads in this section about my CDTi being naughty, I stuck it into Vauxhall (we didn't change the injector in the end as that fault didn't flag up again)

They have had the car since yesterday morning, and had a call just now to say its not good news (is it ever?)

Car has a very blocked up EGR valve and intake manifold, which could be cleaned out, but no guarantee it will sort this intermittant limp mode issue, so best get them both replaced.

    £896.92

    I don't think so...

Just spoke to a guy at LMF who has said that he has never sold an intake manifold for this engine, so would be very, very suprised if this needed replacing (seeing as its not cracked, just bunged up). EGR valve is £278.13 without my discount, so will be ordering one of those this afternoon to see if we can get away with just giving the manifold a damn good clean and replacing the valve.

If it doesn't fix it, I will set fire to the bloody thing

Clean them both first as they tend to 'fail' as they stick either open or closed.

Give it a good clean and I think you might be able to operate the EGR valve with OP-COM.

What do you mean by 'operate' it Lee?

Also, I didn't think the EGR's were cleanable as its a sealed unit (iirc, but I might be wrong)

theres a option on op com that allows you to open and close the egr, you can do it on petrol models too, it should go from 0% to 100% right away so anything other and it still needs cleaning

If you can get it off it should still be cleanable.
