    2003 astra 1.7dti timing belt

Just wondering when the timing belt should be changed on a 2003 astra 1.7dti, its got 74k miles.

Ive been getting different information from garages which includes 80k and 100k miles.

Any advice will be very welcome.

my old 1.7 dti was done at 60k by vx

my new 1.7 cdti was done at 60k and 120k both by vx

altho now at 150k it has a few seals leaking contaminating the belt heard it can happen quite often on the 1.7 lump so best to get it done fella

Vauxhall say it should be 80k.

    Haynes manual says 40k.

I have a feeling that many garages, including Vauxhall, are now recommending less than 80k (say around 60k) as over the years they have noticed quite a few belts snap before the golden 80k mark.

I am doing mine in 60k time.
Better to be safe than sorry.

My mates cambelt snapped on his mk4 Golf GTi recently.
Total cost of repair to valves, head, gasket, belt etc. was £1700!!! (at a private garage!)
