Question Dimming the lights/display on Alpine headunit in a MK5

Was wondering at the weekend, is there any way of dimming down the lights/display on my Alpine headunit which I have fitted to the car recently? I am not keen on bright lights when driving, and the stereo does seem to be mega bright and off putting at night.

Have tried the dimming dial bit to the right of the headlight control, but this is only dimming the dials, and heater controls, everything except the stereo.

Had a look on the settings of the stereo but cannot find anything on there.

Just wondering if I may have the wiring on the back wrong at all? The headunit is an Alpine CDE W203Ri double din.

Ditto. The dimmer on my Zafira didn't work on my X100 HU. Check your instructions for info on dimming the display.

I don't know Andy, haven't had it out to look. I would assume so as I have a connects2 lead and block on the back.

Found the manual online today, theres a bit in there about dimming so will give it a go tonight, if not I will pull the stereo out at the weekend and have a look at the wiring.

Alpines tend to have the orange wire uplugged like the red and yellow wire when you first get it out the box. It's something that could have been left unplugged

Ok, well if the instructions don't work then I will have a look behind ... I then assume there is somewhere it will plug into then?

There will be two orange wires that need plugging in together, simple!
