Yeh you will, If you don't sand & prime it the paint will react with the coating on the console and will look gash. The hardest part IMO is getting the bloody heater dials out! lol, wedge pennies in the clip's that hold's it to the console to make things a little easier

yep,a light sanding ( dull matt finish)will provide a key for the new colour to bind onto the console.can be a little difficult
to get a consistant colour, but do it in light coatings, and leave it to dry,10/15 mins, before spraying on another coat.dont rush it
which is where most fail. Four light coats should be enough. A mattfinish laquer, unless you want it very shiny, same again
leave it to dry before the laquer application,min;12 hours
do again as above,3/4 light sprays,10/15 min intervals.
Without the laquer,it is easy to scratch the finish.
Make sure the paint is acrylic, or it will not stick.
A grey primer will help, apply as above slow and easy, then another very light sanding of the primer to smooth off for final coating.

    flat what you have back
wop on a few thin coats of grey plastic primer
sand this back once dry with a very fine grit until smooth i used 1400
then put on your red (i used flame red frauds)
about 4 or 5 thin coats on mine in the pic
flat that back so its smooth
3 or 4 very light coats of clear lacquer will help protect it against scratches....
picture for you to drool at
