fill it up then, obviously the tank is lower on petrol than the gauge reading and the petrol slosh when turning is starving the pump momentarilly

surely the petrol sloshing around in the tank wouldnt have a direct effect of the fuel already in the system?

It would if theres not alot of petrol in e.g you turn and all your petrol move to 1 side of the pipe so the pump starts sucking in air.

You may have a fault with the tank - my mate has a similar problem with the new tank on his mk3. The old tank had a plastic reservoir fastened to the bottom, round the pump - to hold petrol & stop it sloshing away from the pump. The new (cheapo off ebay ) tank hasn't got this and the engine misses going round corners, when the tank is low on petrol.

If you read around the site a bit more mate, you will find a lot of people have issues with the mk4 petrol gauge around the 1/4 tank mark and below, including me, just use the 1/4 tank mark as the "Red" and fill up ontop of that
