HP laptop Won't boot with battery installed or charge battery.

My sister just donated me an HP Pavilion DV5-1110em.

The reason she gave it to me is that it won't boot up past the initial HP screen (Just goes to a line in the top left corner) with the battery installed. I can get it to boot if I turn it on, Load into windows then put in the battery but it says it's '' 0% charged, Not charging.''

I can use it if the battery isn't installed and it's a quite nice machine with blu-ray player built into it .

I have tried 3 different power supplies and two batteries including a brand new genuine HP part.

The machine is out of warranty and I don't know what to do.

    Any clues?

    Will.

Mine had a similar problem, a couple of years ago, was know to be a common fault. I just leave it plugged in the mains witout a battery. Not much they could do to fix it with out costing too much even though I work for HP
