    Timing belt 100k/10yrs...??

Hello all, apologies as this has more than likely been asked before however I couldn't find my answer on a search...

I have a Z20LEL engined Astra on a 54 plate, I just booked in for a service and MOT.
I asked about getting the timing belt and tensioners changed as the service booklet (if I am reading it right) says it is 6 years or 60k miles.
However, the girl at service reckons she has checked with the tech and it is not due until 10 years or 100k miles.

Can anyone confirm please, what is the correct interval for the timing belt & associated bits on this engine?
    Cheers.
    Ross.

Really... Maybe if the engine was chain driven. But i'm pretty sure yours is belt driven like the z20let , ler and leh. I don't know specific mileage for your car but I changed mine every 40K and it was a Z20LET.

LET/LEL/LEH are all basically the same block.

The LET needs it's belt changed at 40k miles or 4yrs.

Post 2001 cars are 60k/6yrs, pre-2001 are the 40k mark unless there's something different with the turbo engines?

The Tech is getting confused with other models (probably the 1.9CDTi's).

Just looked on auto data and it's 60k or 6yrs for a 2004 model and 80k and 8yrs from 2005 onwards also states that all tensioners and pullys need to be changed at the same time... I'd get the water pump done as well mate as it's on the same belt.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.
Turns out there was a mistake in the car details held on the computer and they thought it was a 1.6L
Also confirmed what thrifty had said, the car is an 05 model although it is on a 54 plate so that makes it 8 yrs or 80k, and that the 04 plate models are 60k or 6 yrs.
    So thanks to all.

Might sound daft, especially as your car is a newish reg, When I bought my car which is a 52 plate in December of 2007 I had mine changed as a matter of course. For some reason whenever I have bought a car, unless it has a history of having the timing belt changed I have just got it done for peace of mind. As the engine is pretty much scrap in most circumstances if the belt does go. However all being said the time scales people have quoted seem right, so you should be fine.
