For normal headlights, will have to be HIDs then surely.

What Astra are you wanting them for?

As far as I am aware you can fit HIDs straight into any light unit.

The plug for the bulb will plug into a ballast which will need to be secured in the car, the the bulb is attached to the ballast. You buy the whole lot as a kit and it is quite literally plug and play except for finding a secure home for the ballasts.

I've just bought some Phillips BlueVision H7s with free sidelight bulbs off eBay which seem good. Will be getting mian beams too now I know they're OK. Do a search though as there is a bit more in depth info I think regarding higher output bulbs.

I have got Philips Bluevision in mine, they are ok but wouldn't say they are brilliant or too much whiter/brighter than normal if I am honest. Have heard something mentioned about Diamondvision bulbs by Philips are supposed to me the nuts!

If I were you and you don't want to go down the HID route, then yes the Diamond vision ones are the best option, personally wouldn't bother with Bluevision ones.
