    the new boy needs help!!

    hope you can help me lads..i have just bought an astra van 1.7 dti 2001 it was driving fine then all of sudden cut out whilst driving!! started it back up and all was fine again for a minute or two then it cut out again..it will always start but always cuts out, sometimes after 5 mins sometimes after 1 min.. the revs arnt erratic or anything like that it simply switches off like i have turned the engine off!!!
    i did the pedal test and the code was 0380 although the eml doesnt always come on..confused.com

    i have just had the bonnet up and the breather pipe from the rocker cover to the air pipe which goes from the airbox over the engine and down to the turbo was not on!! (does that make sense lol)...would that cause van to cut out??
    also my temperature gauge in the van isnt working..what number fuse is it? and where is the sensor? haha no more questions for now!!

    after deciding i had nothing to lose i removed the edu to have a nose..
    working off the dry joint theory i went and bought a solder iron and soldered a dry joint that was about in the middle of the board and fingers crossed it has fixed it!!!!
    it has been running for an hour almost now and no cutting out!! woohooo..

    cheers mate it seems to good to be true! it is running perfect now
    just hope it stays that way..
    out of interest has anyone done this themselves before and it has cured the problem?

    yep i repaired mine in the middle of cheshire with my inverter in the back of the van after braking down it never failed again!

    cool..i like the sound of that!! strange thing happened aswell. my temp gauge now works.
