    Electric RC cars

    hi everybody
i got a tamiya tt01 the other day just as a fun thing to play with (when my real sti has drank to much fuel!)

ive allready stripped both ends of the car and reworked the suspension so now it works like it should do! has a minor steering issue but i have some new linkages on their way.

i have been thinking about getting a "better" battery for it as it only has the 1400mah nicd one that comes with it. someone in the family got me this... 5000mah nimh for 40 quid (not cheap imo!)

but they didnt realise i dont have a charger for nimh! so was wondering how much longer these might last on a run then the 1400 nicd one? think my nicd one on a 30 min rapid charge will do about 10-15mins TOPS.

just really trying to square the price so basically if someone could give me a rough idea on how long they might last on a run, and how long they take to charge and also recommend a charger or knows how much they are that would be cool so i can decide if its worth keeping this battery or get the money back and get something like a 3700mah nicd one

    cheers

Depends on so many things mate.

What the voltage output of said batteries are, what type of speedo you have, type of motor.

I'd say at a rough guestimate about 30-40 mins.

Ni-mh's are better than cads. so stick with it, and get a decent charger from the likes of novak or nosram.

i used to race these professionally lol so here we go

ni-hms are where its at, but you also need a decent charger

the speedo and motor have no bearing on the battery pack if the charger is crap to start with

for a decent one brand new your looking at anything from £100-£250 so thats the price range you want out of that

also running time is never going to hit 40 mins, when i was racing competativly, i was getting 10 mins tops and that was with top of the range equiptment

if you wana ask me anything else, drop me a pm

again, i was lucky enough to have £1000s of kit

better the battery, the longer you can run, a battery pack for about 20 mins running will cost you £80

but to get anymore running than that, you need multipul batteries, i had 5 sets for 4x5 min races

you could also put a slower motor in, but it wont save you too much battery life
