    Cd player and sound problem!!

Right i have never had this problem before and I wanted to know if someone could help as I have had a crack at solving but haven't had any luck.
So I've got a 5 door mk4 astra and as you know it's got speakers and tweeters on each door. I got a set of 6x9's on the parcel shelf pioneer and sound was working great and no problems. Now recently I've fitted some pioneer door speakers in the front. Now here's the problem.. I'm listening to music quite loud as I like it and 15 mins down the road the sound cuts out even though the radio works.. What could it be? Checked wiring nothing wrong can't find any breaks or shorting out. What I also noticed is that I traveled for about 2 hours with radio on just not as loud as usual quite quiet and sound didn't cut out.. Could it be that the power from all the speakers is too much for the radio that it goes to some sort of safety mode and cuts the sound? Cause I've noticed it gets really hot and if I leave it for a good few hours and try again the sound works.
    Any help would be appreciated!!
    Thanks

So you have 6 speakers running off a 4 channel headunit?

Firstly if the 6x9's aren't wired up in series with whatever channel they are coming off your overloading the headunit as they aren't designed to run at 2 ohms

Another problem i've come across on lower powered headunits is that they can't power compoment speakers well at high volume and a seperate amps needed

Well all my speakers are running off the head unit yes. So I need to get an amp and wire the speakers from to the amp?

I think the thing to do for starters is disconect a set of speakers. I guess the 6x9's are on the rears so disconect them or the rear door speakers

Cause I didn't want a sub so I got these which give me the bass and quality I want.
So I have to disconnect the 6x9's and then see if the sound cuts out?

    If there's one thing that parcel-shelf-mounted 6x9s DON'T give you, it's quality...

RE: your problem.. Have you still got the original rear speakers connected to the same channels as the 6x9s? It sounds as if you have, and sounds like you've got them wired up in such a way that they're drawing too much power, and thus the HU is cutting out by going into protection mode. By keeping volume levels down there isn't such a draw and that's why it doesn't cut out.

    You have several solutions.

If you want to keep the halfarts-issue (as approved by crooooozers everywhere) 6x9s then simply unplug your rear door speakers.

If you want to produce a decent sound quality then ditch the 6x9s altogether, sell them to an unsuspecting chav, and put the money towards a decent set of front components and an amp to run them. If you want punchy bass without a sub you'll struggle, although JBL and Rockford Fosgate speakers are quite bawdy in comparison to other brands.
