    Astra Mk 5 Ipod adapter

    Hi guys,

After a bit of advice really... I am about to purchase a Mk 5 Astra Sri (200 and wondered if there was a solution to my dilemma!

I'm after an iphone solution that will allow me to mount the iphone (in a cradle) on the dash, which is hard wired (preferably) to the head unit and that will hopefully also charge the iphone whilst it is there.. I have done some research and found that this piece of kit http://www.vauxhall-accessories.com/...Connection-Kit pretty much does that (except the hard wired part)...

However what I was hoping for advice on was if there was something that did all that and acted as a handsfree kit so you could use the phone whilst driving too!

Not sure if this is possible but thought I would see what others knew!

Thanks for any help you can give me with this.

depends on your budget. what i would suggest is a Parrot MKi9200 with a charging cradle.

    or...

Try a Connects2 ipod adaptor, which streams the music through the cd player, and usually comes with a charging lead for around £60 ish.

Thanks for that info... the Parrot looks good and then the cradle.. i assume that you fully control the ipods fuction on its screen i.e. you can't use any of the steering wheel controls etc? Does this affect the radio also?

It comes with a remote control you can clip onto your steering wheel.. most people are happy with those. If not, you can get adaptors which makes it work through the existing steering wheel controls, but I'd say that would be an unnecessary expense!

The radio will work as normal, but will mute when a phone call is made or received so the phone audio will come through the front two car speakers.

Another option would be the THB 9060 Music, which works the same as above but with the addition of really good quality voice control, so you don't need to touch the screen at all, apart from to turn it on!

oh, btw, you will require an SOT lead for the muting facility mentioned above. If its a CD30, use the SOT-122

I've been reading about the Parrot one.. looks really good... so will the lead that comes with that charge the iphone and its just the actual cradle I need to get?

Also out of interest.. is the TFT monitor detachable for security reasons?

    Thanks again.

The Parrot MK9100 and 9200 have removable screens. They will both play music bluetooth or via the ipod connector which then has the added advantage of charging the iphone too

I fitted one yesterday into a MK5, they really are a simple job

Has anyone ever seen/heard of this head unit being fitted - expensive but looks pretty good?
