    Apple Mac or PC?

I'm after replacing my old desktop computer in my bedroom with something new.
I'm tempted to turn to Apple after getting my iPhone.
Are they worth the money? and what should I look out for?

The main things I will use the computer for are...

    - Large collection of photos and music and videos
    - General Internet Browsing (Facebook, A.O.C etc.)
    - Connecting a 5.1 surround sound speaker system

    Cheers!

I run a mac, I have run one or 9 years but nowadays it really doesn't make a lot of difference if you get a mac or a pc.

One thing I favour on mac over pc (which I have to use at work) is the total freedom from worry about catching something nasty from the web.

We have , however just had 31 new macs installed at work specifically for the photograph classes in preference over pc. This was a choice made by the teacher.

Internet browsing is just internet browsing no matter what you use.

Once you get used to mac it does make a much more logical system to use, well for an idiot like me it does.

I am not going to get into if it should be apple or PC but I will say if you go for apple buy it through a student, teacher or trainee nurse and you should get 15% off any hardware you buy through apple

I love my Mac and it suits my needs perfectly.

    I'm still a student (until July 2011)
So that 15% off is definately a big swing in the direction of Apple...
Again, thats the other reason I'm pursuaded, te fact that macs cant get viruses

I think you get a free itouch as well

although the 15% will only just bring it in line with a comparative PC some will argue.

Get a mac because you can now run both Mac OS and windows from the same system so you will have the best of both worlds

Mac for the win, I've had my MacBook nearly 3 years, no issues, no viruses and still as quick today as the day I bought it. Unlike the old PC that in the end took aaaaages to load up.

That is a good reason. Back in the day, macs were a big turn-off as they didnt have great software support beyond the major graphics packages etc. If you had a PC you could get a bit of software to do anything quickly and for free usually.

A big reason I dont look at macs though is simply the cost. You can get a far more capable PC for the same money.

Im getting macbook pro when I go to the states on Friday. Swayed alot by the iPhone 4 and the mac we have at work, everything just works! Costly though, if you can afford it, go for it. Macs imo are much cooler too
