Did you take the bearings out of the old top mounts and use them on the coilovers?

From the top down it should go like this...

    Nut
    Rubber/Metal Sleeve
    Car Turret
    Nut
    Rubber Mount
    Bearing Plate
    Top of suspension unit

Could it be anything to do with the amount lowered if your running on standard droplinks!
THE STATEMENTS MADE ABOVE ARE MERELY MY OPINION AND SHOULD NOT BE INTERPRETED AS STATEMENTS OF FACT UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

that is exactly how they are fitted..

and as for the amount of drop without shortened droplinks i have fitted shortened droplinks and they are not stupid low, just sit above the tyre...just sounds horrible going somewhere and people looking at the car next minute i turn the sterring and 'CLUNK' sounds horrible..

    anybody got any other ideas?
thanks a lot up to now anyway

In respect of the bearing plate, did you tap this out of the car's standard suspension top mount? Its about the size of a £2 coin but the whole weight of the car rests on it and is 100% important.
