    burning smell, starter clicking!!!

    Hi All
Wife came home and told me the car was smelly and signs of smoke were spotted when she got out the car.

Had a look to find an awful burning smell from the engine bay and when trying to start the car all I get is a clicking sound.

It's not the battery as the lights stay bright when trying to start the car. Also the key is a bit sticky in the ignition.

Has the starter fried and are these easy enough to replace yourself or is it a dealer job?

    It's a 1.8 convertible.
    Cheers

Check battery connectors, the chassis and engine earth.
