    regal vs courtenay

Why is it that regal maps seem to get abit more power and alot more torque than the same stage as a courtenay map, eg same spec engine but different figures

    Just mapped different,

Some maps give big (Pub talk) figures, Some give gigger torque figures (Which is what propels you) and some are mapped to drive nice so the power comes in smooth with no peak's in BHP or torque.
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...

when i got mine mapped at courtenay they said the std k04 vxr turbo can only go upto 310bhp at the most and your lucky to get more than 300bhp, they said you can get that power if it on (what they called) a happy dyno

Adam, I would say that Courtenay and Regal both use different Software.. From what I have read Courtenay Maps are supposed to be smooth powerful maps where as Regal's are more brute force... I don't know who produces the Courtenay Software, but Arno from EDS produces the maps for Regal

if they were refuring too regal's dyno figures??(not saying they were!)then what a load of poppy ****! regal have not long spent a lot of ££ on there new dyno setup so i'd say it's about as accurate as you can get........(imo).

also if courts are saying the max bhp is 310 for the vxr turbo, then i wonder what turbo the new vxr will be running,as vauxhall wont be running a turbo very close too its maximum power?..i wonder if vauxhall will finally pull there finger out and use a proper turbo and manifold??(i doubt it).

agree with slim shany about them been accurate. mine went on twice when it was mapped, it read the exact same bhp and a 1 lb/ft torque difference

personally i would discount both tuners and get 2 red dot, you can choose how u want the power, plus best bhp as map is cutom mapped to ur mods, its no a flash and dash map like regal n courtenay, although i guess they have their place
