So I have the non aux input H astra stereo, and am fed up with it!
Don't want a transmitter, I quite fancy one of the dynavin / TTMMI systems but they are too expensive atm.
So I have a plan - to just leave the stereo turned off, and put a iso splitter between the car wiring and the stereo/handsfree unit, and feed an external source into it from there. Question is, i'm pretty sure my mp3 player will only have a output of 1/2 a watt or something so it would need amplification, i've found a few bits online, a 2x40w stereo amplifier which is a board and bits, or a 12w single channel module, which is complete just needs wiring attaching. I'd have to use 2x12w to get stereo but because its plug and play it should be easier, the 40w stereo amp would need some kind of enclosure making which puts me off. Can complete modules for higher watteges be bought, bearing in mind it needs to be small to fit inside the dash.
So would 2x12w be powerful enough to run the speakers? Or should I use the 40w - or is this idea just not going to work??
Or does anyone know of a double din system that looks pretty OEM that doesnt run to £500?
