Dimensions to make custom mk4 exhaust centre pipe!

    Morning all!

was thinking of getting a centre pipe to go with my cybox back box, and the cheapest ones on fleabay are £50 delivered.

so this got me thinking, my grandads an engineer of some sort and can do magical things with steel...

so has anyone got the dimension for a racing straight through centre section so i can get a custom made one? obvisouly i would like it to be non-air restricting like all the after market ones you can buy, i just need the angles to bend the steel and to know at which points to make the bends?

if anyone has any info on this would be much appreciated!

    cheers

common sense says remove your current one and work from that.....or have i missed something??

failing that - buy a shitter from the scrappy

surely if u know someone with the skills then its just a case of gettin the car in the air and doing it as u go.

Common sense dictates that not everyone has the time to take the car to the garage and make the measurements, whilst working and having a social life.

so It would we helpful if someone who has done this or has the centre piece currently off the car could give me the measurements

what you trying to get is impossible apart of the ID pipe as for the rest is quite complex and inaccurate to just measure; that's why exhaust makers has to put this things in a JIG to make them a close fit
    - would be more appropriate to follow Geordie's advice

hmm, i thought it was as simple as bend this piece of pipe here and there etc. if you catch my drift? cos from the pics of them it literally looks like its just bent steel:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ASTRA-G-Mk4-HA...es_CarParts_SM

like that with a flange fitment on one end?

my mate did one for his fiesta back in the chaved up days, hence why i thought it would be possible to simply do this then?

for the time/effort, i would just buy one.

It is just a bent pipe, but your not going to get accurate measurments! Needs to be spot on or it wont fit, so have be removed rebent. Some aftermarket exhaust are a bad enough fit
