Question Name this part please....z20let engine

Hi, I have managed to figure out that i've got quite an oil leak from the bottom of this pipe/hose, I think it must've cracked or something as its just before the flange on the end of it

What is this part? Anyone know how much it is to replace? I take it that the exhaust downpipe needs to come off to be able to get at the flange?

    Cheers, Chris

Funnily enough mines has just done the same, costs around £25, it can be done in place without taking the down pipe off, youll need a gasket for it as well which is a couple of quid. I forget the official name for it but it allows the rocker cover to vent back into the crank case.

iv seen alot of zlet leaking oil from there and its usually just teh gasget that needs resealing.

Can you tell if its the pipe or the gasget?

Its just two bolts that holds it on, and a metal gasket,

When you get the pipe off(can be removed without taking other parts off)using a long ratchet, you might want to give it a good clean out and the hose,

Use some flexable oil resistant sealant, halfrauds stuff is ok, and spear it on all flat surfaces, after cleaning up with something like clutch n brake cleaner,
put your bolts in the locating holes with the gasket in place (pipe, the sealant will hold them long enough )
to feed your pipe down, and use a long ratchet to bolt up tight but dont overtighten,

I know you know all this but some ppls don't

when you remove it, obviously replace the gasket, id check the pipe all over for damage, youll probs find its just the gasket thats gone (if its cracked as u say, then just repair with some chemical metal or similar)

give the pipe a good sanding and a fresh coat of paint (not obligatory but may as well whilst its off) oh and clean the internals fully as probs caked in crap, replace the 2 M8 bolts with some nice studs, and secure the pipe down with a couple of nuts

it makes life so much easier locating the pipe onto the block instead of trying to line the bolts up.

    trust me!

Thanks guys, Its defintely leaking from above the gasket, I'd cleaned all the flat bit at the bottom of that pipe and have looked at it today and it has oil over the top of the flat part, looks like its from where the metal tube joins the flat metal part. (you can tell I aren't mechanically minded)
Looks like chemical metal maybe the way to go then in this case, I take it I just mix the chemical stuff with the hardener and then just spread it around that join where I think the oils coming from? Never used the stuff you see
