That man has got it in one!

I do the same, car in the shade, apply a very thin layer then leave for up to 20 mins before buffing off. If you want more protection, wax again but I believe your supposed to wait 24hours before the 2nd lot of wax.

Depends on what you refer to Megs Carnauba wax as. If it's one of their liquid waxes (as I imagine it is stage 3), then tip it down the sink and buy some Pete's 53, then follow Razz's advice.

Gaz speaks the truth. Pete's 53 is great. I use either that or Dodo Juice Blue Velvet on my black sapphire hatch.

Trust me, Petes last for absolutely ages ... I got mine for xmas, and still have well over half a pot left, and I use it all the time when I detail.

A good wax choice is tricky at times and all dependant on colour, if it metalic, is it silver,/single stage. do you want wet look, glassy, durability?

I always tend to say that what you gain in the wet look factor you lose in durability and vise versa.

Durability wise I cant really say anymore than finish kare fk1000p or collinite 476s.
They both give great finishes, fk gives a more rich glassy finish which works great on whites and silvers.

For a rich wet look then zymol carbon, swissvax onynx and dodo juice juiced edition are all great waxes but will last a short period of time in comparison to the durability heavyweights.

The same goes for everything, but its all down to personal preference and how frequent you use the products.

Get what you pay for, Petes 53 is cheap wax that does a very good job. Megs stage 3 isn't worth the effort of applying it.
