    2.0 diesel help

    Hello people.

I have just purchased a 2002 diesel astra for 1250 quid.

I have a few niggles here and there, lets see if you guys can help.

    Issue 1.
when the wipers are on the first click (slowest) they dont seem to work properly. instead of one full wipe on and wipe off every 5 seconds or so it only does a wipe, leaving the wiper blade in the centre of the scree.
i have repalced the relays twice and that does not seem to do it.
the wipers work as they should on the medium and fast speed.

    any one know?

    Issue 2.

Reading this excellent forum i found out that i can install cruise control onto my new motor. i am sure i have all the wires following the how to on this site. BUT, i cannot find the loose wire that should be in the footwell to connect to my clutch switch. any ideas where they hide it ?
the cable behind the steering wheel was taped to the other wires, but i cannot find the other end!
any ideas ? please let me know as i want to install this asap.
also will it work straight away or will i have to pay vauxhall 45 quid to sort it out for me?

    Issue 3.
Chips.... not the ones you get down the beach but the ones that are thrown about all over ebay, being a 2litre diesel it does drink a lot. do these chips actually work ? i would like more power but i dont want to use all my juice up in one trip. they say that they will improve your MPG.
is this true? which one is best to go for ?

cheers peoples. i hope you can help.

I am from bournemouth in dorset, if anyone needs a pair of hands to help fixing anything let me know.

    Cheers

Welcome mate. I eddited your reg number out as younever know how someone could use it......

Right issue 1 will be the wiper motor. The park contacts inside will be worn but the motor has to be replaced as a whole unit unless you fancy taking it apart to try and fix it

For issue 2 I believe Diesels are fitted with a clutch switch already so you should see that up there. I have known diesels to need cruise control programming in via tech2 before though

    No idea on issue 3

Clutch switch will either have a 2 or 3 pin connector. You might be lucky and it will work otherwise post in your regional forum for help on where to get it programmed

well well well ! after about 40 mins trying to find the CLUTCH switch i found the BRAKE switch !!

I was looking all over the place not realising that if i looked 2 inches to the right i would see what i am looking for! DOH

i have replaced the old stalk with my new one and cruise control works a treat! no need for and tech 2 malarky.

I have just been told by HALFORDS that to replace my door speakers i need an adaptor kit. i got one on ebay for 1.5 quid. any ideas how to fit?

    cheers
