Exclamation to colour sand or not to colour sand.

i have painted my centre console 2day and was just wondering after ive let it dry for 2 days in a very warm room.
do i need to colour sand it before i put the clear coat on?
if yes what grade wet n dry would i use n whats best way as theres loads of diff advice n stuff on net thats confusing :s.
also do i buff or cut the paintwork b4 clear coat like in sum how to guides?
what are the benifits of doing it as well?
also do i need to sand or polish or cut the clear coat after thats dryied for about a week or so?

Use a 600/800 grit wet n dry n make sure it stays wet. Ita just to get a slight key for the clear coat to Ader to. But u don't have to can just clear coat straight onto paint then wet n dry

i got the area cut out n got mesh kinda fixed in.
havnt dont any fibreglassin in yet as waiting to see if u can help but dont wana impose on u as ur trying to do urs and u prob dont get much spare time.
with colour sanding do u dont have to sand up n down n is that how they get a realy smooth looking paint and it looks kinda dull finish n the clear coat gives the pearl coat the shine?
    isnt 600/800 a bit course?
many sites say 1500/2000 wet n dry :s.
