    wiring problem on head unit

No doubt this has come up before. had a little dig around and couldn't find anything that helped.

Well here's the problem. ive fitted an after market head unit in my car and when i tested it i had no power. after prodding round with a volt meter it was understood that the constant power (memory) and the power when ignition is on wires are the worng way round. double checked it on the internet and found that they should be swapped. however when i do that i have constant power to my head unit (when i turn the ignition off the CD player stays on. Have to turn it on manually when i start the car)

ive tried it a different way and now the CD player works with the ignition but doesnt have memory (even the date/time clock needs setting if the car is turned off then back on)

Has anyone encountered this problem before or have suggestions on a fix?

    thanks all

It sounds like you have a headunit where the fuse in the back of it can go in 2 places so remove it and slide it over to the other contacts
