Leather seats fitted - Air bag light on

I fitted leather interior to my coupe yesterday, easy enough to swap over and i'm really happy with the results but now I have the airbag light on.

Have I done something wrong when connecting things up or is this just something that I'll have to put up with as now the seats have air bags in them?

Under the seat were 2 connectors, 1 large one which was the same as the old seats and a smaller one which I have now connected up, is the smaller one the airbag sensor? if so could I just leave this unplugged? or is it something to do with the heated part of the seats?

    Cheers

The airbag light is on becuase you unplugged it when you changed the seats mate, it doesn't go off when there re connected. Can only be turned off with opcom. Not sure about the other connector though

I Fitted a leather interior to mine, the guy i got it off said for me not to connect the air bag as my ecu wouldnt be set up for it, so i left it undone and it has been fine. i dont know if disconnecting it would solve the problem but its worth a try.

You will still need to get the light reset after remedying the fault

All good, I disconnected the battery, unplugged the small connector, connected the battery again and no light!

When I've got time I'll have it programmed to read the new side airbags until then they can stay unplugged. After all, I didn't have them on the old seats!

Glad you got it sorted . . .the light came on because you didnt have the airbags before.

What one should do when fitting a different interior is

First dissconect the battery, just in case you set off the airbags,

all your afore mentioned problems should not have arisen if you did this,

    however you are lucky

and you have reset the ecu , by accident

    in future safety is foremost

    please adhere to this

You can't get the airbag ECU re-programmed there a write once only device. You need an airbag ECU from a car that's got side airbags

Also not sure if they would work with the correct ECU, as you will be missing the side impact sensors.
Glad you got it sorted though, I did the same thing with mine, plugged all the connectors in and the light came on. What colour is the one you disconnected?

Also to those that have said it, it makes no difference is battery is disconnected or not. If the car isn't supposed to have side airbags, and you plug them in the light will come on. Battery should be disconnected for saftey, but wouldn't have effected the light coming on the dash.
