2.2 Convertible Exhaust & Induction Mods

I have a 2.2 astra convertible mk4. I'm looking at fitting a full stainless steel exhaust and making some mods to the induction. I'm after some advice from the experts:

    1) Which would be the best s/s cat back exhaust which would sound nice without being too chav loud, miltek, scorpion etc?

    2) Should I do the exhaust manifold mod and remove the inner gauze?

    3) What about the s/s de-cat pipes available, any good, will the 2.2 pass an MOT on emissions without the cat?

    4) Induction kit wise, whats best viper, k&n or original airbox with performance filter? The 2.2 air inlet pipe is at the front so a cold air feed pipe would have to go back on itself if that makes sense.

What have other 2.2 owners done to increase performance? Cheers, Mark.

    1) Ive got a Milltek from a GSI turbo then modded it to fit
    2) Yes the exhasut manifold on the 2.2 is MASSIVELY restircitve, 'inner gauze' do you mean the pre-cat? if so, yes drill it out.
3)The cat is needed for the MOT, it will fail emissions without it.
    4) Dont use an induction kit on this car (open cone style) fit a large air intake scoop (vec c or dbilas etc) a panel filter, de-restrict the airbox (any opening with less area then the throttle body will restrict airflow i.e the pipe that feeds the airbox should have a min diameter of 58mm as thats the size of the throttle body.
4a)Change the pipe that goes from the air box to the throttle body as the final bend that enters the throttle body flattens and impedes airflow.

Other mods............... cripes ive got a LONG list

I have a custom exhaust fitted, not too loud...sounds nice actually!

dbilas air intake (vec C or beesons air intake on here will do just fine)

2198cc mentioned everything else as his car is pretty impressive!

About 10 mins from South Mimms services.
PM me and we can meet up
My engine dosnt look modded from the outside,
im using the standard airbox and inlet manifold <SHOCK HORROR> as the 68mm tb on my dbilas was causing MASSIVE problems.
It now drives better then ever!!!

    Thanks Blue_Sport
Ive been busy over the past couple of months with a new engine rebuild, as soon as it has been to the dyno and ive got some results i will post up some pics and spec list of it.

    Cat-back exhasut system?
The exhasut on the SE is very restricitve. Have you removed the pre-cat?
