    EGR Valve?

    I know what its job is but is there any benifit in me cleaning it?
    What will improve any part of my car?

    alite skynet it can only be beneficial to keep your egr valve clean your car should feel more responsive after doing this job .

    How the hell do you get the big manifold bolt off? how big is it (the silver pipe thingy)?

    Bit messey int it.

    not sure dude ive got a cdti 150 which is different from the 1.7 .

    the egr can sometimes become fouled enough so it allows exhaust gasses past it all the time best to ommit it in my opinion but thats just me!

    I did see my manifold was messy when cleaning the egr valve but i think it bolts on/off but you will need to replace gaskets if you do take it off. Didnt bother with mine though.

    Finally managed to get the EGR off gave it a clean but how can I test this part? the valve looks closed? Can I move it to check??

    Urmm i dont know tbh i cleaned mine which didnt work so disconnected it

    So you can disconnect these valves? What do they do then and what happens if you disconnect them. (sorry for the noob question)

    Not sure of the consequences on the eco 4 version but on the standard 1.7DTi not alot tbh just every now (once a year for me) get a nuisance fault code.
